Tom's young female out of Shadow and Ariel is a fast learner. She caught a hearty number of black-tailed jacks and cottontails during her first week of hunting. By the end of the week she was taking the really far jack slips just like a pro.

Hilarious personalities are emerging. One of the tiercels raised by Milo and Killer
shredded a tennis ball to bits. A gray squirrel ran through the live oaks behind the
chambers on one side of the compound, and all hell broke loose.

We hand-raise the hawks for their first 5-6 days of life. This increases the survival rate. There are many changes happening within the first few days of life, making this is a particularly delicate time. Some of these changes include absorption of the yolk sac, and activation of the digestive system. We give the chicks to the parents when they are 5 to 6 days old.
